Sparking Up Fuel Economy & Performance

A new spark for your engine

If you’re one of those drivers or ‘Car Guys’ (the affectionate term used for both male and female auto enthusiasts) who know that true performance is more than just speed, then you know there are lots of things to consider when trying to get the best performance out of any engine. One key component that can often be overlooked is the right spark plug.

As a car buff, you probably already know that DENSO offers a full range of spark plugs that are optimized for each specific application, but if you’re looking for horsepower, torque and fuel economy, then you need to look at their new DENSO Iridium TT Spark Plug.

It’s a new spark plug created with a number of proprietary technologies that deliver the right combination of fuel efficiency, quicker starts, smoother idling, and faster acceleration. And it’s done while maintaining the low emissions of an original equipment spark plug…even after 100,000 miles (by the way, that’s like driving around the world four times)!

Pretty cool, right? Well, to make it possible, DENSO’s scientists had to find a way to make the most durable alloy in the world that could be used for spark plugs. So, they invented technology that combines Iridium and Rhodium. Iridium is the most corrosion-resistant metal known on earth, and Rhodium is inert against corrosion and most aggressive chemicals (which means it’s nearly corrosion-proof). The combination of these two elements resists oxidation and voltage ware and enables the Iridium TT spark plug to outperform any other plug on the market, even in the most severe engine temperatures and conditions. But wait, that’s not all.

Once the alloy was made, DENSO’s scientists created another proprietary technology—a 360-degree laser welding process that could be used to manufacture a twin-tip spark plug with

the world’s smallest diameter center electrode and anti-fouling characteristics. These characteristics reduce heat while maximizing the firing potential of the plug. All of that is important because it creates spark growth, minimizes misfires, and significantly improves combustion…and performance.

That’s pretty heady stuff to think about when you’re researching, recommending or buying a spark plug, but the key thing to remember here is that the DENSO Iridium TT Spark Plug delivers the horsepower, torque, fuel economy and lifespan that can’t be matched by any other spark plug on the planet.
